Parenting, Progress, and Dusting Wins
Years ago, a dear friend encouraged me in the seemingly endless challenges of parenting kids with disabilities:
“Let’s do our best while they are young, and it will carry us all through as they grow.”
At the time, our efforts spanned multiple areas—specialized nutrition, reflex integration, motor-skill development, academic adjustments, and eventually the significant commitment of cognitive therapeutic brain training. These interventions required time, focus, resources, and steady advocacy. Yet the long-term impact has been unmistakable.
We worked hard when they were young, embraced more flexibility as they grew, and we are reaping the benefits. Confidence, independence, cognitive development, and their readiness to navigate larger life transitions are the fruit for my two who have additional learning needs. These outcomes have strengthened my belief in early, targeted intervention and the power of neuroplasticity to support learners with diverse needs.
That conversation with my friend still echoes for me today. Whether through our involvement in the alternative education community or by offering the Arrowsmith Program, my driving question is simple:
How can we get the best tools to the people who need them most, so they can lead the richest lives possible?
If you are navigating learning challenges within your family, I want to acknowledge the weight of that responsibility. You are not alone in this journey, and we are here to support you.

This same friend, she also affirmed that running a vacuum brush over exposed surfaces counts as dusting. Precious!
